Our PeopleOur People

Canterbury Hospital celebrates the dedication and commitment our staff deliver every day in our community.

Reward and recognition programs like the Canterbury Hospital STAR Award program help us to highlight our star employees who model our standards of service, teamwork, accountability and respect.

Anyone can nominate a staff member for the STAR Award program including community members, patients, carers as well as fellow staff. STAR Award nomination forms and submission boxes are available throughout the hospital or you can download here. Star Brochure

Nominations are reviewed monthly by the Executive team with the STAR Award announced in a small ceremony, in their ward or unit with colleagues.

Winners of this award to date include hotel services staff, Medical Officers and Nursing and Clerical Staff, receiving a STAR employee pin and a certificate.

Another recognition program at Canterbury Hospital is the Geoff Walker Memorial Award which is awarded to high performing Junior Medical Officers.

Token of Appreciation Canterbury Hospital has also recently launched the Token of Appreciation program, as part of the Canterbury Cares initiative. This program helps patients and their carers to recognise excellent service from staff who have cared for them. Token of Appreciation cards are available throughout the hospital and we welcome patients or their carer to give the Token to the staff member.
