Our Services

Typically the Infectious Diseases (ID) service provides diagnostic and management advice for patients across a broad range of disciplines – this includes multidrug resistant bacterial infections, returned travellers, soft tissue and bone & joint infection (including prosthetic joint infections), tuberculosis, gastrointestinal infections, parasitic and fungal infection, etc.

The Microbiology service complements the ID service and has a special interest in diagnosis of fungal, parasitic, mycobacterial, and gastrointestinal infections as well as detection of antimicrobial resistance. The unit also has experience in hospital infection control management.

Outpatients

There is one combined outpatient clinic in Infectious Diseases held weekly, on Thursdays. These are all public patient clinics with referrals from GPs, specialist colleagues and ward and Emergency department reviews.
