About Sydney Dental Hospital

Sydney Dental Hospital (SDH) has been serving the local community since 1904. The Hospital is a centre of excellence and throughout its history has been a key driver in shaping oral health and dental care in Australia. SDH is committed to providing high quality dental services to our local community, with a strong focus on patient and family-centred care.

SDH is part of the Sydney Local Health District and is one of two major providers of public oral health services in NSW. SDH provides a range of general and specialist dental services including: 

  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Orthodontics
  • Paediatric Dentistry
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Endodontics
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Special Care Dentistry
  • Community Oral Health

Community Oral Health Clinics

In addition to SDH, the Sydney Local Health District Oral Health Service operates community based oral health clinics which provide general services for patients across the Sydney Local Health District catchment area. There are five community oral health clinics located at:

  • Canterbury
  • Concord
  • Croydon
  • Marrickville
  • SDH

SDH as a University Teaching Hospital

SDH is also a major teaching facility with strong research and training links to the University of Sydney, University of Newcastle, TAFE and the Australian Dental Council. The Hospital plays a significant role in the development of the next generation of dental and oral health professionals through specialist mentor and graduate programs as well as Dental Assistant Traineeships for Aboriginal Staff.
