The Concord Palliative Care service has strong focus in clinical research with an aim to improve healthcare outcomes of palliative care patients and their families. Our Palliative care service is involved in a number of projects contributing to development and enhancement of novel management approaches of a range of palliative symptoms such as pain and breathlessness.
- Two Multi-centre Randomised controlled trial are in the commencement process at our service. These trials aim to improve the ways of managing pain and breathlessness in cancer and palliative care patients.
- The palliative research unit recently won a competitive grant from the Sydney Local Health District to develop an app to bridge the language barrier that appears while caring for patient from Non English Speaking Background (NESB). This project is currently underway and is planned to be completed by February 2017.
This Palliative care service is also an active member of Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC) and Improving Palliative Care through Clinical Trials (ImPaCCT).
