Our Research

As part of our collaboration with Genea, the RPAH Fertility Unit and its patients benefit from the research undertaken at Genea. This research has received international recognition.

Recent and current Health and Research Ethics Committee (HREC) approved research projects being carried out in the unit include

  • A randomised control trial of a weight loss program for women with Body Mass Index (BMI) >30, commencing IVF. (The unit is no longer recruiting for this study).
  • A randomised control study into the use of the Pick Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (PICSI) dish as a means of fertilising oocytes.
  • A qualitative research study comparing the experiences of women who miscarry after natural conception with women who miscarry after IVF.
