Reviewing Criminal Record Checks on Day 1Students will sometimes submit a scanned copy of their criminal record check (CRC) to their education provider (EP) if they were unable to attend an on-campus verification session. Their ClinConnect profile will be updated by the partner Local Health District (LHD) of the respective EP, who will indicate that an original document is to be sighted. The CRC should still be viewed prior to the commencement of a clinical placement by the EPs partner LHD or on day 1 of the clinical placement by receiving LHD staff. The SLHD Clinical Placement Unit will receive an auto generated notification that the student's original CRC is to be sighted and will advise the receiving clinician of this requirement. To assist the clinician to remove the notification from the students ClinConnect profile (i.e. that an original document has been sighted) please follow these simple steps:
In the Student Verification Details text box, locate the radio button with the 'tick' noting the original police check to be sighted and 'untick' this box and press "SAVE" on the bottom right hand side of the page. SLHD staff do not need to keep a copy of the student's criminal record check or forward a copy to the SLHD Clinical Placement Unit. By 'unticking' this box, the receiving LHD staff member is verifying that the document presented by the student, is clear of all criminal convictions and/or offences against children. If the student cannot produce the original criminal record check, the student is to be sent home and the CPU advised of the students name, discipline, placement location and education provider. The CPU will contact the respective education provider to provide advice in regards to what has occurred. For any further assistance or advice with this process please email the SLHD Clinical Placement Unit on slhd-cpu@health.nsw.gov.au |
