National Carers Week occurs every year and aims to acknowledge and celebrate the 2.65 million carers in Australia.
Carers provide unpaid support to family members or friends living with a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, long term health condition or who are frail due to age.
Carers Week provides an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution of 53,000 carers in Sydney Local Health District who positively impact the lives of those they support, as well as our health services and staff across the District. We also recognise nearly 12% of our workforce who provide care and support to someone they know, balancing paid work and care.
Carers, staff carers and District staff are invited to join a range of activities happening throughout the week. Stay up to date on the events happening across the District by visiting the SLHD Carers Program website, or joining the our CHAT Registry.
