A / Professor Matthew Rickard Associate Professor Matt Rickard is a colorectal surgeon at Concord Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. He has extensive experience in advanced colorectal surgical techniques, colorectal cancer, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and surgical epidemiology. Following graduation with honours from the University of Sydney, he undertook further surgical training locally (receiving a master's degree in Epidemiology) and internationally. He is the immediate ex- Chairman of the Australia and New Zealand Training Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He has been Chairman of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Councillor for the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is the Chair of Colorectal Surgery at the University of Sydney and Head of Department of Colorectal Surgery at Concord Hospital. |

A / Professor Anil Keshava Clinical Associate Professor Anil Keshava is a colorectal surgeon at Concord Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital, Sydney. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney and completed general surgical training on the central –western rotation in Sydney. He then completed post fellowship training in colorectal surgery at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and Concord Hospital in Sydney. This was followed by training in inflammatory bowel disease and cancer at the Edinburgh Colorectal unit, Scotland. He has also worked and trained in Hong Kong and Japan. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and a Member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. He has a Masters of Surgery degree from the University of Sydney and is currently a member of the RACS court of examiners in General Surgery. He is the RACS Surgical Education and Training Supervisor for Concord Hospital. Surgery degree from the University of Sydney and was the former Senior examiner in General Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, having retired from this position in October 2020. He is the Head of the Colorectal and General Surgical stream at Macquarie University Hospital and also the colorectal research supervisor for the senior registrar at Concord Hospital. Anil's practice includes all facets of open, robotic and laparoscopic colorectal surgery, hernia surgery, advanced colonoscopy and anorectal ultrasound and physiology. His interests are the development of new techniques in laparoscopic surgery and the training of fellows in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He manages the laparoscopic colorectal database at Concord Hospital and is involved in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through Sydney and Macquarie universities. |

Professor Pierre Chapuis AM, DS(Q'ld), FRACS Pierre Chapuis graduated from the University of Queensland in 1969 and obtained his FRACS in 1975. In 1976 he travelled to the United Kingdom for advanced surgical training with registrar posts in England, Wales and Scotland and subsequently as a post-graduate Fellow at St Mark's Hospital, London and at the Centre Léon Berard in Lyon, France. In late 1978, Pierre Chapuis returned to Sydney as a Fellow in Coloproctology at the Edward Wilson Colon and Rectum Unit at Sydney Hospital and as First Assistant to Mark Killingback at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. In 1979 Pierre was appointed Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery at the University of Sydney at Concord Hospital and in 1982 was awarded the John Loewenthal Research Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to complete his study on aspects of the natural history of colorectal cancer under the supervision of Professor M T Pheils. In 1984, he graduated Doctor of Surgery for a thesis entitled "A clinicopathological study of large bowel cancer" awarded by the University of Queensland. He then entered full-time surgical practice as a staff member of the Colorectal Unit at Concord Hospital and as Senior Lecturer and in 2014 Pierre was promoted to Professor of Surgery in the Sydney Medical School at the Concord Hospital Clinical School campus. Pierre is now Project Manager for the Concord Hospital Colorectal Cancer Health Outcomes & Values Research Project and is a foundation member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. His clinical and research interests focus on prognostic factors and the multidisciplinary care of patients with colorectal cancer. He has a special interest in the endoscopic palliation of patients with advanced rectal cancer. Pierre Chapuis is kept busy with teaching in the Graduate Medical Program at the Sydney Medical School and Director of Post-graduate Surgical Education within the Discipline of Surgery at Sydney University. He serves on numerous hospital committees and editorial boards. In 2020 he was awarded an AM in the General Division of the Order of Australia for services to medical education and colorectal surgery. |

A/Professor Peter Stewart Dr Peter Stewart is a graduate of Sydney University and Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Australia. He is a founding member of Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand. He has extensive experience and expertise in cancer surgery (open and laparoscopic); colonoscopy; endoscopy; inflammatory bowel disease; pelvic floor and recto-anal disorders (rectocele, rectal prolapse and other disorders of defecation, sacral nerve stimulation for incontinence, sphincter repair, haemorrhoid and fistula operations); hernia repairs; flap repair of pilonidal sinus. He conducts continence and endoanal ultrasound clinics at Concord Hospital. |

A /Professor Andrew Gilmore Andrew Gilmore is a colorectal surgeon who works at both the Concord, Macquarie University and Liverpool (where he is Head of the departments of Colorectal and General surgery) Hospitals. He is passionate about minimally invasive Colorectal surgery; in particular redo laparoscopic surgery and techniques to allow laparoscopic surgery in the obese. He has the largest experience of NOSE (Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction) colectomy and Michelassi Crohn's stricturoplasty in Australia. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of the University of Western Sydney. |

Dr Michael Suen Dr Michael Suen is a specialist colorectal surgeon and a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). His areas of expertise include management of colorectal cancer using minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques, surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, complex proctology conditions, defeacatory disorders and anal incontinence. He has special research interests in: (1) New surgical techniques in the management of complex fistula in ano; (2) Perioperative care in bowel cancer resection patients, with the establishment of the Enhance Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program and the Prehabiliation preoperative program; (3) Management of bowel dysfunction (Anterior Resection Syndrome) after bowel resection for colorectal cancer. Being a senior lecturer of University of Sydney and Supervisor of Board of Surgical Training, he is dedicated and committed to teaching young doctors. |

Dr Henry Cheung Dr Cheung obtained his medical degree from University of New South Wales and undertook General Surgical training through Concord and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals as well as their affiliated peripheral hospitals throughout NSW and ACT. During training, Dr Cheung also completed Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery from University of Sydney. After obtaining Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery, Dr Cheung went on to undertake further subspeciality training in Colorectal Surgery with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) at Concord Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital. Dr Cheung has gained extensive experience in minimal invasive surgery in the management of colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease and general surgical conditions. Dr Cheung is passionate about innovation, education and research through his involvement with the Concord Clinical School and Concord Institute of Academic Surgery. Dr Cheung has been the Principle Investigator for Concord Hospital in several collaborative research network studies and has a research interest in outcomes of rectal cancer treatment. |

Dr Mifanwy Reece Dr Mifanwy Reece is a colorectal surgeon at Concord Hospital and on the Central Coast. She graduated from the University of Sydney and completed her general surgical training in Sydney, where Concord Hospital was her Alma Mater. Mifanwy completed her Colorectal Fellowship via the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery (ANZTBCRS) training program, where she trained at both the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and Concord Hospital in Sydney. Mifanwy's surgical practice includes advanced laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery as well as the management of benign anorectal conditions, endoscopy, colonoscopy and hernia surgery. Mifanwy is near completion of her Master of Philosophy in Colorectal Surgery, which compares the cancer outcomes of patients undergoing laparoscopic or open colon cancer surgery using data from the Concord Hospital Colorectal Cancer Database. She oversees the management of the Concord Hospital Diverticulitis Database and is currently involved in multiple research projects investigating the optimal management of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Mifanwy believes strongly in the importance of encouraging educational opportunities in a supportive environment and enjoys her role as a teacher and mentor to medical students and training doctors. |

Dr Kheng-Seong Ng Dr. Kheng-Seong Ng recently completed his Colorectal Fellowship as the Notaras Scholar through the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. His fellowship included clinical posts at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the John Goligher Colorectal Unit at St James' University Hospital, Leeds, United Kingdom. His fellowship was also sponsored by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh International Surgical Fellowship program. Dr. Ng has a wide clinical interest spanning all fields of colorectal surgery. He performs both minimally and maximally invasive surgeries for malignant and benign colorectal disease, including primary and recurrent colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. His clinical practice is complemented by his academic interests, for which he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Sydney) in 2017. His doctoral thesis, based on translational research conducted through the Concord Clinical School and ANZAC Research Institute, focussed on the neurobiology of human pelvic viscera with attention to hindgut dysfunction following rectal surgery. His research has attracted funding from the NHMRC and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His current research program is supported by the Concord Institute of Academic Surgery, and focusses on outcomes of colorectal malignancy, improving surgical efficiency through innovation and technology, and novel treatments for pelvic floor dysfunction. |

Amie Navera Amie Navera commenced as the acting Nurse Unit Manager of Ward 1 East in December 2019 and was appointed the permanent role in August 2020. Ward 1 East is a 30-bed Medical-Surgical inpatient unit that specialises in the treatment and management of Colorectal Surgery and Gastroenterology patients. Amie studied Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at De La Salle University Manila, Philippines and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Philippine Women's University prior to her relocation to Australia and graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Western Sydney. She started her nursing career in Concord Repatriation General Hospital as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in the Upper GIT ward, where she obtained extensive surgical nursing experience. Upon finishing the Leaders of the Future program in the Sydney Local Health District - Centre for Education and Workforce Development, Amie began secondments and acting as Nurse Unit Manager in various inpatient units across Concord Hospital such as the Medical Assessment Unit, Concord Centre for Palliative Care and Upper GIT and Gastroenterology ward. She is also a member of the Demand Management Unit relieving for the Nurse Unit Managers and the Patient Flow Clinical Nurse Consultant when required. Amie is currently working towards a Master in Advanced Nursing majoring in Leadership and Management. |

Sonia Khatri Sonia Khatri is the Clinical Nurse Consultant for Colorectal Cancer at Concord Hospital. Sonia has an extensive background in colorectal and cancer nursing having worked in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. Sonia graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree (Flinders University, SA), followed by a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care (Kings College, London) and has a Master of Clinical Leadership (University of Tasmania). Sonia lectures at the University of Sydney Nursing and Medical School (Concord). As the Colorectal Cancer Care Coordinator, Sonia coordinates the care of patients undergoing colorectal surgery for bowel cancer including the prehabilitation program. Sonia also provides support, education and resources for patients, families and the community on bowel cancer. |

Gillian Richardson Gillian Richardson is a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Colorectal in the Operating Theatres at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, a position she has held since 2010. Gillian graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Technology and completed her New Graduate Program at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. She worked in the Colorectal ward as an RN before leaving to train as an operating theatre Nurse at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. From there she left to take up a position at The Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland predominantly working in the Colorectal theatres. After returning to Sydney, she worked at a private hospital and later returned to CRGH to take up a CNS position in the new digital theatres. As part of her role in Colorectal, she runs the Colorectal Outpatient Clinic. An average of 1200 patients were seen at this clinic per year. As well as working alongside the medical team, Gillian sees patients who have undergone surgery for early colorectal cancers. These patients are followed up for at least 5 years. She has completed her Master of Philosophy through the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie University and has been awarded an honorary title of Clinical Senior Lecturer through Sydney University for the Concord Clinical School, discipline of Surgery. |

Ian Whiteley Ian Whiteley is the Nurse Practitioner in Stomal Therapy at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, a position he has held since 2005. The Stomal Therapy Department coordinates the care of both in-patients and outpatients with stomas (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy, caecostomy or appendicostomy). Ian graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Newcastle and completed his New Graduate Program at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. He has worked predominately in the Colorectal Unit as a RN, CNS and A/NUM. This was followed by a secondment to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as the Clinical Nurse Educator for the Colorectal and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Units. He has a Graduate Certificate of Stomal Therapy Nursing, Graduate Certificate of Nursing Education, Masters of Clinical Nursing and has completed non-award subjects from the University of Sydney Masters of Nurse Practitioner course. Ian has academic affiliation as a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Sydney Nursing School & Concord Clinical School, Discipline of Surgery. He is a member of the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses and is a preceptor for nurses undertaking the Graduate Certificate in Stomal Therapy Nursing. He has published in national and international journals on a variety of topics. |

Anne Marie Lyons Anne Marie Lyons immigrated to Australia from Ireland in 1996. Anne Marie completed her nursing training in Watford England. In February 1997 she was employed as a CNS at Concord Hospital in the Surgical High Dependency Ward. Anne Marie has held many positions over the years within the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses (AASTN), including Chairperson, and currently remains an active Committee Member. Anne Marie has presented at Conferences and is a regular speaker at the United Ostomy Associations Regional Meetings, besides having had several papers published. NSW Stoma Limited retain the services of Anne Marie as their Stomal Therapy Nurse for members seeking professional help. |

| Roger Riccardi Clinical Nurse Specialist Stomal Therapy and Wound Management Roger Riccardi has been a part-time Stomal Therapist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital since 2003. He started in the Colo-Rectal ward as an Enrolled Nurse in 1999 and completed his Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Technology in Sydney in January 2003. Roger became a Trainee Stomal Therapist in December 2003 and completed his Graduate Certificate of Stomal Therapy Nursing in July 2005. Over the past 12 years Roger has also worked as Acting Clinical Nurse Consultant in Stomal Therapy. Roger also works on Ward 4 East which specialises in Urology, Plastics and reconstructive Surgery, Breast Endocrine and Infectious Diseases. Roger has also for filled the role of Acting Nurse Unit Manager on Ward 4 East during the past 4 years Roger has co-authored articles relating to Stomal Therapy in national and international journals and has presented at National meetings. |

Jess (Yanlan) Lin Jess Lin is the ERAS Nurse Co-ordinator in Colorectal Department at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, a position she has held since 2016. The ERAS Nurse Co-ordinator provides perioperative education and optimise the care of patient who undergoes elective major bowel surgery in Pre-admission Clinic, hospitalisation and post-discharge. Jess graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) from Western Sydney University, and completed her New Graduate Program at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. Jess has worked in the colorectal ward post her New Graduate Program as an RN, CNS prior to her position as ERAS Nurse Co-ordinator. Jess has completed Graduate Certificate of Stomal Therapy Nursing and is a member of Australian Association of Stoma Therapy Nurse (AASTN). She is currently studying in Master in Advance Nursing in University of Technology Sydney. |
