About Us

Rheumatology involves the care of patients suffering from muscle or joint problems. There are broad range of conditions which can present with musculoskeletal pain, including autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout and tendonitis.

The Rheumatology Department provides four out-patient clinics per week, with an emphasis on the rapid and thorough assessment of suspected inflammatory pathology. This includes inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and spondyloarthropathies), connective tissue diseases (such as scleroderma and SLE), myopathies and giant cell arteritis.

Our department has a long-standing commitment to education, ranging from medical students and visiting elective students, to basic physician trainees and advanced trainees undergoing sub-speciality training in rheumatology.

Rheumatology clinics are held on:

  • Monday afternoons
  • Tuesday mornings
  • Wednesday afternoons
  • Friday mornings
