The Sydney Cancer Survivorship Clinic

The Survivorship clinic is available to oncology and haematology patients who have completed primary treatment (e.g. surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) for early stage cancer and who have no sign of a recurrence of their cancer. People who have received their cancer treatment at Concord Hospital are generally seen a few months after completing chemotherapy. A referral from your regular oncologist or haematologist is required.

  • The first visit takes at least two hours as all survivors see each of the following health professionals:
  • specialist cancer doctor (medical oncologist or haematologist)
  • cancer care nurse
  • dietician
  • exercise physiologist
  • clinical psychologist.

A Survivorship Care Plan is prepared for you.

Haematology survivors return to their original medical team for ongoing care.

Oncology survivors either return to their original medical team or continue in the Survivorship Follow-Up Clinic. In the follow up clinic, most people are seen every three months by a medical oncologist and a survivorship nurse specialist.
