Getting ready to go home

Please ensure that your arrangements for collection and/or transport home are organised before you come into hospital. You must leave the ward before 10am on the day of your discharge. The hospital Emergency Department is not designed for long-term care of sick patients who need to be transferred to the most appropriate ward for treatment as quickly as possible. We also want to ensure that patients who need an operation have a bed available to them so their surgery is not delayed.

Discharge lounge

If you are unable to be collected from the ward before 10:00am it will be necessary to transfer you to the comfortable Discharge Lounge on the lower ground floor (located at Gate 2, off Hospital Road) to wait for your transport to arrive. Friends or relatives can collect you from the Discharge Lounge on the lower ground floor (via gate 2, ten minute parking zone is available for pick-up only).

Monday - Friday: 9.30am to 6.00pm
