STARS

STARS makes data more readily available and functional for business and health professionals across the District to support decision making.

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) has embarked on the use of an exciting, new reporting tool that will allow greater flexibility to performance reporting - STARS (trade name QlikView).

SLHD Targeted Activity and Reporting System, known as STARS provides a flexible approach to exploit business discovery and data visualisation in increasingly forward thinking ways.

STARS bridges the gap between traditional Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and standalone productivity applications, enabling users to forge new paths and make new discoveries. Ultimately, the tool makes data more readily available and functional for business and health professionals across the District to support decision making.

It changes the way data is accessed, analysed, compared and distributed to help make faster, smarter decisions and an important tool for our project officers and teams.

The SLHD has been using this tool since 2012, with a variety of applications targeting acute admitted activity, clinical variation, emergency department utilisation, quality and safety indicators, NWAU analysis, workforce and a number of others.

There is also a huge array of additional applications currently in development focusing on clinical performance rather than pure activity reporting. This is a huge benefit and key driver for clinician uptake and engagement as users navigate and interact with data in any way they see fit - they are not limited to just following predefined drill paths or using preconfigured dashboards. Users can see hidden trends and make discoveries in ways that have not previously been possible with any other local reporting mechanisms.
