Balmain Hospital
Balmain Hospital is a community based hospital which has been caring for people since 1885 and plays an important role in the provision of aged care services and rehabilitation in the Sydney Local Health District. Balmain Hospital is committed to providing the highest standards of health care, to meet individual needs. Balmain Hospital provides GP services treating minor illnesses and injuries for patients when their GP is unavailable.

Balmain Hospital also operates a Transitional Care Unit which is a slow stream, goal oriented rehabilitation/residential service. Patients are transferred into the Unit from Hospitals across SLHD when they are medically stable. The Unit offers an extended stay of up to 12 weeks. Newly graduated Transition to Practice Registered Nurses will rotate to Balmain Hospital as part of the Royal Prince Alfred program.

Canterbury Hospital
Serving the needs of Sydney's inner west communities for over 80 years Canterbury Hospital has a bed capacity of approximately 215 beds and provides care in the following specialities: Emergency Department, Cancer treatment services, paediatrics, Coronary Care, Elective surgery including urology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ENT and general surgery. Canterbury Hospital is also the setting for palliative and Hospice care services. Canterbury also provides a Transition to practice program for approximately 25 Registered Nurses and 2 Post graduate Registered Midwives annually.
Canterbury Hospital also provides birthing and post natal care as well as providing a midwifery group practice service to local expectant mothers.

Community Health Services
Community Health Nursing offers a range of community-based prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute/post-acute treatment, health maintenance and continuing and palliative care designed to improve or maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. Community health nursing is based at the following centres: Camperdown, Canterbury, Croydon, Marrickville and Redfern. Newly graduated Registered Nurses from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital can undertake a community based rotation as part of their Transition to Practice program.

Concord Hospital
Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. It offers a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as centres of excellence. Major services provided include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged State-wide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Annually Concord Hospital offers approximately 80 positions for newly graduated Registered Nurses as part of its general Transition to Practice program.

Originally a Military Hospital, Concord began treating patients in 1941 and since then, the hospital has gone from strength to strength with the opening of many important units and facilities. Situated close to the City on the Parramatta River, Concord Hospital enjoys expansive views extending to the Sydney Harbour Bridge on one side, and the beautiful Blue Mountains on the other and was the setting for the long running TV series All Saints.

Drug Health Services
Nursing Services within Drug Health are diverse incorporating EN, RN, CNS, CNE, CNC, NUM and Nurse Managers who deliver dynamic treatment programs for in-patient and out-patient settings, offering shift work as well as Monday to Friday hours. Services including: Assessment and Brief Interventions, Consult and Liaison, Opioid Treatment Programs, Out-patient Clinics, Perinatal and Family Services, Research Opportunities, Residential Rehabilitation and Withdrawal Management Programs. Transition to Practice programs are offered to newly graduated Registered Nurses annually.

Mental Health Services
The Mental Health Service provides integrated inpatient and community mental health clinical services to the local communities across Sydney Local Health District. Inpatient services are at the newly build Concord Centre for Mental Health and on the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital campus. Community mental Health services are provided at a variety of centres across the district. Employment opportunities exist in the following specialist and targeted services: early intervention, rehabilitation, older people, co-morbidity, adolescent, assertive outreach, eating disorders, consultation/liaison, Aboriginal, carer and consumer support, health promotion and multicultural services. SLHD Mental Health Services currently operate in-conjunction with the South Western Sydney Local Health District. A Transition to Practice program provides positions each year for approximately thirty newly graduated Registered Nurses.

Tresillian Family Care Centre
As part of Australia's largest child and family health organisation the Tresillian Family Care Centre at Canterbury Hospital functions to providing expert parenting advice to families during their child's early years. The Centre offers a range of services in both residential and day stay settings as well as other out-patient and outreach education and support services.

Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
The principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney RPA offers specialty services from its main campus as well as the nearby RPA Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics (IRO) and the State wide Renal Services. As one of Australia's leading hospitals, RPA provides an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services to more people in NSW than any other public hospital. It's comprehensive range of clinical services including the following: endocrinology, neurosurgery, neurology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, pain management, orthopaedics, rheumatology, plastics, reconstructive surgery and infectious diseases, cardiology, interventional cardiology, nephrology, renal transplantation, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery, gastroenterology, upper gastrointestinal, colorectal, liver transplant and general surgery, aged care, critical care and emergency, respiratory, oncology, short stay paediatrics and obstetrics. RPA provides opportunities via its Transition to Practice programmes for over 150 registered nurses and midwives and also hosts specialist peri-operative and intensive care transition to practice programs.
