Connecting Communities Challenge

Sydney Local Health District is committed to supporting the work of culturally and linguistically diverse organisations to enhance the health and wellbeing of their communities.

The inaugural Connecting Communities Challenge is a grant of up to $10,000 available for the implementation of a community based project. Projects should be 12 months or less in duration.

Applications are invited from community based organisations working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Sydney Local Health District (this includes Burwood, Canada Bay, Canterbury-Bankstown, Inner West, Strathfield and the western parts of City of Sydney) for projects to develop new and innovative approaches for engaging and working with
communities on priority health issues.

The Connecting Communities Challenge seeks projects that support one or more of the following:

  • Increasing access to health services and information for people from CALD backgrounds
  • including newly arrived and emerging CALD communities
  • Projects that keep your community healthy
  • Initiatives that focus on the health of children and young people from CALD backgrounds

Multicultural Leaders Forum

The 2018 Sydney Local Health District Multicultural Leaders Forum brought together multicultural communities and representatives from local councils, multicultural service organisations and NGOs to discuss the health priorities for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. It was also the launch of the District's new framework for working with cultural and linguistic diversity and how we will partner with the community to create a healthcare system that is responsive to the varying needs of diverse populations.
