About Arterie @ RPA

Arterie @ RPA is an art and health program designed to deliver the creative arts to everyone who interacts with Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Arterie @ RPA forms part of a holistic approach to healthcare and aims to ease the side effects of illness and hospitalisation, such as stress, pain, fatigue, isolation and depression.

Bespoke models of art engagement are offered to the different types of people who come to RPA, including patients, families, carers, staff, volunteers and visitors.

The process of art making is diversionary and provides a distraction from treatment and the clinical atmosphere of the hospital. The artworks are displayed around the campus, helping to create a sense of pride and ownership of the hospital.

Our team also have backgrounds in design, engineering, art education, nursing and counselling. Arterie @ RPA is delivered by professionally qualified and practicing artists, architects, art therapists, and museum and gallery educators.

Arterie @ RPA provides training opportunities and professional placement in art and health practice for university and college students through internships and artist in residencies.
