The RPA Basic Physician Training Network
Sydney Local Health District

Philosophy

The RPA BPT Network Training Program has a rich tradition in medical education, mentorship, and vast clinical experience. Our training team is passionate about clinical training, innovation in education, registrar welfare and professional development. The program is designed to not only prepare trainees for the requirements of basic physician training, but also to foster future physicians who will practice medicine with compassion, integrity and a high standard of excellence.

We firmly believe in a network model of training, and the RPA Network offers trainees a wealth of clinical exposure in internal medicine in a number of different settings and healthcare contexts. Each hospital in the network makes an important contribution to the training and education of our basic physician trainees. While we believe that clinical exposure is critical to learning and education, and we have designed an integrated formal teaching program which complements the experience gained through working as a part of a medical team.

While an important aim of the network is to assist trainees in their preparation for the FRACP Written and Clinical Examinations, we aim to provide a comprehensive program which gives our trainees a broad development in personal and professional skills that are required for practice as advanced trainees, physicians and clinician leaders of the future.
