Meeting your Obligations as a Researcher

Data Management and Bio-Statistical Support

Adherence to ethical research practices are the responsibility of the individual researcher. This includes:

  • adherence to the guidelines of the Australian Code for the responsible conduct of research and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007, updated March 2014)

  • ensuring no research is conducted which has not received ethics approval by the relevant SLHD human research ethics committee

  • obtaining all necessary administrative approvals from relevant heads of units, departments e.g. Site Specific Assessment Form and authorisation via the relevant Research Governance Officer (for site specific approval). This means following your organisation’s policies on the conduct of research

The Research Ethics Offices have detailed information and relevant templates and forms on their website.
