Alzheimers Association
Alzheimer's Australia is the peak body for people living with dementia, their families and carers. It provides information, support, advocacy and education services. Phone the Alzheimer’s Australia NSW on 9805 0100 or the 24 hour Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500.
 
Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing
The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing has developed the Aged Care Australia website to provide community members with easily accessible information on topics such as staying at home, residential aged care, carer support and health.
 
Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is an Australian Government agency primarily providing support to veterans and their dependents (including war widows/widowers). DVA provides services such as pensions and compensation, health care, rehabilitation and community support. Many older people are entitled to DVA support as a result of service duties.
 
Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres
The information provided by Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres  makes it easier to find care and receive support to continue to live independently. They have up to date information on local community, aged and disability services such as personal care and domestic help, accommodation and residential aged care services.
The centres can help you by:
  • providing information on the range of services available and how to contact them;
  • explaining service eligibility;
  • outlining service costs;
  • arranging respite.

Care Search  focuses on palliative care. It has a range of helpful information and includes separate sections for patients, carers, and family and friends. 
 
Carers NSW
Carers NSW is a significant advocacy organisation for carers in NSW. Carers NSW also directly supports carers through the provision of information and advice about their caring role and the services available to help them.

Dementia Helpline
The National Dementia Helpline (1800 100 500) is a 24 hour telephone and information service that provides:
  •  Understanding and support for people with dementia, their family and carers;
  •  Practical information and advice ;
  •  Up to date written material about dementia ;
  •  Information support services, including those provided by Alzheimer's Australia
 
Working Carers Support Gateway
The Working Carer's Support Gateway  is part of the Disability and Aged Information Service Inc. based in Lismore.
 
It aims to provide information and support to low income and isolated carers in NSW who are juggling both caring and workplace demands. A range of resources to support busy carers is available.
