Facility Orientation

All new employees are expected to complete one full day of face-to-face orientation. This program is conducted in all facilities of SLHD and is standardised across these faciliites.

Orientation is run monthly in each facility however new employees can attend orientation at any site which means that face- to- face orientation can be accessed on a weekly basis by new employees.

Topics include:

  • Fire Safety Training
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Human Resources Information (including Salary Packaging and Stafflink)
  • Security Awareness
  • Staff Health (injury management, vaccination and return to work processes)
  • Between the Flags
  • Waste Management
  • Quality and Safety
  • Manual Handling (practical)
  • Health Services Union / NSW Nurses and Midwives Association Representative

Participation in facility orientation is generally organised by either the Recruitment Unit (they may put a date for facility orientation in your letter of offer) or by your department manager. New employees should communicate about a date for facility orientation with their manager.
