Nursing and Midwifery Orientation Dates

Nursing & MidwiferyNursing and midwifery orientation is a one or two day (depending on facility) face-to-face program for all nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing. The program provides an introduction to your facilities nursing/midwifery policies and procedures and ensures that you have the knowledge that you need as a new employee.

Please note that the content in Nursing and Midwifery Orientation has been standardised therefore new nurses and midwives can attend nursing and midwifery orientation at any of the facilities

Topics include:

  • Infection control
  • Falls prevention
  • CPR
  • DETECT
  • Medication standards
  • Administration of blood products

The second day of orientation includes computer system training and departmental orientation.

New registered nurses and assistance in nursing that are employed at Balmain Hospital should attend nursing orientation at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
