Aboriginal Research (AH&MRC)
24 MARCH 2020
Statement from AH&MRC
The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council has considered the current Covid-19 situation and the most recent advice from New South Wales Health and Commonwealth Department of Health and determined that there will be immediate suspension of AH&MRC Human Research Ethics Committee Approvals that relate to all data collection requiring face-to-face contact with human participants. This suspension commences at midday 23rd of March 2020 and will be reviewed fortnightly.
The number one priority of the AH&MRC is the health and safety of Aboriginal people and communities in New South Wales. During this time, the AH&MRC HREC encourages researchers to consider alternate data collection methods such as remote options including teleconference, videoconference and zoom.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates of any changes by email and through the AH&MRC social media accounts.
During this time, the Ethics staff will be best contactable by email, so if you have any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or; if you have any emerging operational concerns or queries in relation to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) you can contact the AH&MRC team via email at email@example.com or phone on 02 9212 4777.
The AH&MRC thanks all researchers for their understanding and respect for this decision.
