About UsThe Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is one of the largest and busiest clinical departments at Concord Hospital. It provides a comprehensive in-patient, consultative and ambulatory gastroenterology service within the hospital and also to the wider community in the Inner West of Sydney. FacilitiesAdministrative offices: This facility is shared with the departments of colorectal surgery and upper GI surgery. Inpatient facilities The department has approximately 20 in-patient beds, principally in wards 1N and 1E on the first floor of the main building. Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy: ACE is a purpose built unit that was commissioned in February 2002. The ACE unit houses ambulatory clinics, C13 breath testing facilities, oesophageal manometry and up to four endoscopy procedure rooms with recovery areas. Almost 6000 endoscopic procedures are performed each year making the unit one of the busiest endoscopy units in NSW. ACE also houses clinics in general gastroenterology, hepatology and IBD clinics. There are also colorectal clinics, incontinence clinics and stomal therapy services, which the Colorectal Surgical Department runs.
