The Concord Cancer Centre Breast and Endocrine Department is comprised of the Breast Cancer Service and the Endocrine Department.

Breast Cancer Service

The Concord Cancer Centre Breast Cancer Service is focussed on providing timely, co-ordinated care for cancer patients and their families. It offers comprehensive state of the art diagnostic services including ultrasound, mammography (with tomography and contrast enhancement - CESM), MRI and targeted biopsies, as well as specialised management procedures such as image guided marker clip placement, lymphoscintigraphy, and hook wire localisation.

The Breast Cancer Service is run by specialist breast surgeons, the breast Fellow, training registrar and a breast care nurse. Patients are assessed for benign and malignant breast conditions, management plans are formulated and patients return to the clinic for post-operative care and long-term follow up.

Referrals to the Breast Cancer Service

A referral from a general practitioner (GP) or specialist is needed for all appointments.

Concord Cancer Centre Breast Cancer Service runs a hospital breast clinic, managed by Dr Gail Molland, Dr Erick Fuentes and Dr Pamela Howson. To make an appointment, call the Appointments Centre on (02) 9767 5333 or fax a referral to (02) 9767 7780.

Patients with a breast cancer diagnosis are seen urgently.

New patients should bring any imaging (breast ultrasound, mammogram, MRI), biopsy reports/films, and any old appropriate radiology films for comparison.

Endocrine Department

The Endocrine Department cares for patients with thyroid cancer, complex parathyroid disease and adrenal disease.

Patients are reviewed by a multidisciplinary team of experts including surgeons, endocrinologists, radiologists, pathologists and nuclear medicine physicians. The team collaborate to gain consensus on management plans in an evidence-based setting, then discuss the plan with the patient (whose autonomy is preserved throughout their care).
