HEARING (AUDIOMETRY)

About

Hearing (audiometry) services assist with early identification of ear disease and hearing impairment. Audiometry can make referrals to other health professionals and educators. Hearing checks are available from 9 months of age.

What age groups do you see?

Children aged 9 months – 12 years.

How can I access your service?

Telephone the Child Health Information Link (CHIL) on 9562 5400 (select option 2).

Where can I access your service?

Our services are provided in Community Health Centres in Sydney Local Health District.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your child’s Blue Book (Personal Health Record).

What can I expect for my appointment?

When you arrive to the Community Health Centre you will be greeted by the receptionist. This person will let your Audiometry Nurse know that you have arrived.

During the appointment, your Audiometry Nurse will have a chat with you about your child’s health and explain the hearing test. Then they will test your child’s hearing.

After your child’s test is completed your Audiometry Nurse will talk to you about the results.

Who will I meet at my appointment?

You will meet your Audiometry Nurse who has qualifications in Audiometry Nursing.
