Child and Family Health Nursing

Did you know Sydney Local Health District provides a free nursing service for all children from birth until age five? Whether you have a question about your baby’s sleeping or feeding, want advice on child development or anything in between, we're here to help!

You're likely to first meet or talk to one of our friendly Child and Family Health Nurses soon after the birth of your baby. Our nurses will check on your baby's health, growth and development and answer any questions you have.

Nurse Kim Dunlop says they are there to support you. “There's no such thing as a silly question - we've probably heard it all before and have a resource somewhere to help you out with it”.

Many local mums and dads will also get to know our nurses through parent groups offered to first time parents, at our breastfeeding support clinics, information sessions about introducing solid food to your baby, or at developmental check-ups.

Whatever the reason, our nurses are always happy to see you and your child/children at one of our Early Childhood Health Centres or offer advice over the phone, via the Child Health Information Link (CHIL) 9562 5400.
