In Sydney Local Health District Nursing and Midwifery Service we are committed to supporting the professional development of all our staff and students. We believe that education, skills training and career development is a shared responsibility. Our commitment to all our staff is to support them in developing and maintaining the required skills and knowledge to perform in their role.
Robust training and development opportunities are available to staff through the district education provide being the Center for Education and Workforce Development (CEWD). Nursing and Midwifery services work in close collaboration with CEWD to provide opportunities for education in key career directions including Governance, Engagement, Innovation, clinical skills, management, leadership, education, research and technical skills.

  Sydney Enrolled Nurse Transition Program

Sydney Local Health District's Enrolled Nurse Transition program is a 12-month program designed to support the transitional phase of your career.

We offer clinical support and access to a variety of learning opportunities. Positions offered in this program are either full time or part time on a rotating roster.

Facilities and Services included in the program are:

  • Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
  • Canterbury Hospital
  • Concord Hospital
  • Balmain Hospital
  • Mental Health Services.

The program will further develop your skills, knowledge and confidence through

  • Two six month clinical rotations
  • A structured orientation program
  • Supernumerary shifts to support you in your first shifts on the ward
  • Four study days throughout the year
  • Regular reflective practice sessions
  • Regular in-service education

2022 ENTP Intake Dates:

  • Monday 23rd May 2022
  • Monday 22nd August 2022
  • Monday 14th November 2022
