The Dietitians Clinic at the Allergy Unit, Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH), Sydney Local Health District (SLHD), is a widely acknowledged centre of expertise in the dietary investigation and management of adverse food reactions.
- The clinic caters for patients of all ages requiring assessment and management of adverse food reactions including food allergies, food intolerances, coeliac disease, functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID), eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, and related conditions.
- Patients are seen on an outpatient basis, but dietitians will be available for inpatient consultations
- The clinic provides opportunities for professional education, mentoring, and support for students and practicing dietitians
- The clinic responds to requests for information from members of the community, healthcare practitioners, food industry, catering services, regulatory bodies and other relevant organisations.
Clinical services delivered by dietitians include:
- Provision of comprehensive clinical, dietary, and nutritional assessment.
- Provision of instructions for dietary elimination and challenge testing, including monitoring of progress and long-term follow-up.
- Provision of relevant educational resources.
- Provision of advice on strategies to achieve a healthy, well-balanced long-term diet.
- Communication with the referring health practitioner(s) and/or general practitioner.

- Contribute to research on adverse food reactions.
- Provide reliable, evidence-based information for healthcare practitioners and the community.

Please note:
- Patients referred with anaphylaxis, throat swelling, asthma and/or eczema, Food Protein Enteropathy (FPE), Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), Food Protein Induced Proctocolitis (FPIAP) should be under the care of a medical specialist (e.g. Dermatologist, Gastroenterologist, Immunologist/Allergist, Paediatrician, Respiratory Physician).
- Referrals will not be accepted if a patient has a suspected or confirmed active eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
