Stress and burnout are almost universal concerns in the career of medical practitioners. It is a significant issue for basic physician trainees who are preparing for exams, but continues throughout a physician’s career, regardless of discipline or specialty choice.
BPT OK is a pilot program that is currently underway, as an integrated part of the existing Professional Development component of the RPA training program. It has been designed as a collaborative effort of directors of training past and present, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, personal trainers, researchers and trainees.
The program aims to teach trainees the skills to recognise, prevent and manage stress not only in their current roles, but also for the rest of their careers. We believe that learning these skills is an integral part of becoming a physician; it is as important a part of basic physician training as learning clinical medicine.
