Parent Education

Parent Education Programs

Sydney Local Health District is taking steps to protect our patients, community and staff against any potential transmission of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

There are a range of Parent Education options available for you and your partner or support person to help you prepare for pregnancy, birth and parenthood.

Our programs are either face to face or via ZOOM. You will also be provided password access to an online learning platform (the 'Moodle' Education Support Portal) of resources.

We have partnered with CPR Kids to provide an interactive course which will empower you and your family with the life-saving skills of CPR and First Aid for children aged 0 - 8 years.

Read a description of CPR Kids below and other Childbirth and Parenting Programs here.

To register your interest in the CPR Kids, Childbirth and Parenting programs please complete the Expression of Interest Form.

CPR Kids

Run by expert paediatric nurses, CPR Kids provide an interactive course which will empower you and your family with the life-saving skills of CPR and First Aid, covering children aged 0 - 8 years.

You will learn how to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency and how to prevent, recognise and respond to the most common first aid situations affecting young children, such as: choking, burns, head injury and much more.

With ample hands-on practice with baby & child manikins, this class will leave you feeling confident to manage an emergency with your child.

Note: Due to current COVID restrictions CPR Kids classes have been moved to an online format. You will participate in a highly interactive live Zoom session with one of the CPR Kids nurses where you will learn how to administer CPR on a baby and child and learn how to prevent, recognise, and respond to a choking baby or child. You will also be given the opportunity to ask your nurse educator any questions you like.

After your live online session, you will be given access to the CPR Kids eLearning platform where you will be able to complete the full CPR Kids program in your own time and you will be sent a 20% discount code should you choose to complete a face-to-face class once COVID restrictions ease.

Recommended for: parents, grandparents, and any carers of children

Course Duration:
Face to face course: approx. 3-hours
Live online Zoom: approx. 1.5 hours
eLearning: Self-paced learning to be completed within 12 months, log in and out any time.
