Have you ever considered a career running one of Australia's top hospitals or health services?
Applications are now open for this year’s Graduate Health Management Program intake at Sydney Local Health District.
A true “study while you work” opportunity, the Graduate Health Management Program helps to grow health service leaders of the future.
Past graduates have gone on to take up positions in senior management throughout the NSW Public Service, including as general managers of hospitals and health services, and roles in finance, innovation and research.
Graduate Lainie Anderson is currently the Cardiology Business Manager at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Ms Anderson said she’s always had an interest in health, but after starting her career studying psychology she wanted to pursue management.
“After finishing the program, this is really where my passion lies,” she said.
“This program has grads working with senior executive members of our District which means they really get to learn from the top level how the system is run and how the health system works.”
Over two years, starting in February each year, trainees are employed to study a Masters in Health Services Management or Health Information Management while being mentored by some of the most senior managers in the NSW Public Service.
The District’s Executive Director of Operations, Dr Tim Sinclair, said to be considered, applicants need to show they are motivated, flexible and innovative.
“This is an opportunity to work in a challenging but rewarding team environment and develop skills that allow graduates to have successful careers in leadership in the public health system,” Dr Sinclair said.
