New health services in Green Square and Zetland

The site for the new RPA HealthOne near Green Square has been announced

The community of Green Square and Zetland is set to benefit from new health services as part of a $100 million NSW Government investment in out-of-hospital care in NSW.

Sydney Local Health District announced the planned RPA HealthOne will be located at 944 Bourke Street, Zetland, one of 20 sites across the state bringing together GPs with community health and other professionals in multidisciplinary teams under one roof.

The RPA HealthOne near Green Square will support a more efficient primary health care system by connecting Commonwealth-funded general practice and private practitioners to state-funded primary and community health services to improve health and wellbeing of the local community.

“Green Square is growing rapidly and the RPA HealthOne will improve patient care outside of the hospital system, close to home,” said the District’s Chief Executive, Dr Teresa Anderson.

Another boost for the growing community will be the introduction of a new child and family health clinic at the Tote building in Joynton Ave, Zetland.

The child and family health clinic will provide services for parents with children aged 0-5 including nursing, breastfeeding support, allied health and community paediatric clinics as well as RPA Antenatal outreach appointments for women expecting a baby.

Refurbishment of the heritage Tote Building is set to commence early in 2021 to provide three family friendly clinic rooms and a separate group room.

Just a short walk from the East Village Shopping Centre, with planned upgrades for Tote Park and its playground, the new Zetland clinic will be an ideally located space for young families.

Sydney Local Health District Executive Director of Clinical Integration, Lou-Anne Blunden said the new child and family health clinic in Zetland and the RPA HealthOne ‘one-stop shop’ near Green Square will support improved health outcomes for the community.

“We have consulted with the community about the health care services they would like to access, and our partnerships will allow us to deliver a range of services including child and family health, mental health, drug and alcohol services and multilingual health promotion,” Ms Blunden said.

“As we plan and build the new RPA HealthOne, we will continue to consult with local community groups, The Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network and its associated universities, in particular the University of Sydney, the University of NSW and Notre Dame University, to deliver a range of healthcare services.”

The linkage of the RPA HealthOne to the specialist clinical services at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital will significantly enhance access to services for the community.

The largest urban renewal site in Australia, just outside the Sydney CBD and airport, Green Square is projected to be home to more than 61,000 people by 2031 and will be the most densely populated area in Australia.
