Dr Leena Gupta talks about why it's important that anyone with symptoms gets tested
Sydney Local Health District is increasing its testing for COVID-19 to help stop the spread of the virus in our community.
"We're asking the community to help us stop the spread of COVID-19. We're now doing additional testing for coronavirus," Dr Leena Gupta, the Clinical Director of the District's Public Health Unit said.
"If you're feeling unwell with any symptoms - a sore throat, fever, cough or other respiratory symptoms - please get tested. You don't have to have been overseas or in contact with someone who has had COVID-19 to be eligible for a test," Dr Gupta said.
There are COVID-19 Clinics at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord and Canterbury hospitals. They're open from 8am - 10pm, 7 days a week, but the last patient will be triaged at 9pm to allow staff time to finish assessing patients.
People are advised to follow the signs to the COVID-19 Clinics rather than coming to a hospital's main entrance. And, people are also reminded to practise social distancing by staying 1.5 metres away from others where possible.
