The Department of Neuropathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is the only standalone neuropathology department on the east coast of Australia. It provides highly specialised, best practice diagnostic neuropathology expertise to RPAH and the broader NSW community on a wide variety of neurosurgical and forensic neurological specimens. The Department was founded in 1986 in what was the “New Medical School” (the Blackburn Building) of the University of Sydney, and by 2013 it had relocated to state-of-the-art laboratories at the University’s Brain & Mind Centre. The Department of Neuropathology provides training opportunities for anatomical pathology trainees as well as research students, and is closely affiliated with the University of Sydney Discipline of Pathology and Central Clinical School. It also actively contributes to medical student teaching at the University of Sydney. |
