About the RPA Surgical and Robotic Training Institute
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is home to the southern hemisphere’s only training institute for robotic surgery.
In an Australian first, RPA, Sydney Local Health District, The Institute of Academic Surgery, Device Technologies, Intuitive Surgical, da Vinci Surgery and The University of Sydney have formed a unique partnership, bringing together clinical care, research, training and state of the art medical technology.
RPA is one of the only public tertiary referral hospitals in Australia with a da Vinci Xi surgical robot.
The surgical robot allows surgeons to work with greater precision, using less invasive incisions, resulting in better outcomes and improved recovery times.
All patients treated using Robotic Surgery techniques will have the opportunity to become part of a major research study at RPA aimed at constantly improving treatment and patient care.
