The Department of Infectious Diseases at RPA Hospital care for its own inpatients, consults on those of other units and supports the activities of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit, the Drug Committee and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.

Its close association and co-location with the on-site microbiology laboratory of NSW Health Pathology enables it to provide integrated diagnostic, management and outbreak control services for the hospital and for training and education.
