REGIS Automatic Suspensions and Overdue Milestones

1.  Automatic Suspension of Ethics Applications with expired Ethics Approval

From Wednesday 28 June 2023, REGIS deployed a new feature that automatically changed the status of any study with expired ethics approval for at least a year to “Suspended”. This means that the ethics approval will be suspended.

If this has affected one of your studies, you would have automatically received an email from the Research Ethics and Governance Office providing instructions on what to do next.

Overdue Milestone Progress Reports Status Change to ‘Not Achieved’ from 19 July 2023

From Wednesday, 19 July 2023, any ‘Pending’ milestone progress report that is greater than six months overdue will automatically be ‘Not Achieved’.

The Research Office should be contacted to create a new annual report milestone for you to complete and submit for the relevant calendar year.

It is a condition of your ethics approval that an annual progress report be submitted.  The Committee relies on these reports to verify that the conduct of research complies with the approved protocol and remains ethically acceptable.

Failure to submit regular or ongoing reports may result in your ethics approval being withdrawn.  Please ensure you check your REGIS homepage to submit any milestones that are now due, or overdue, see instructions at https://regis.health.nsw.gov.au/media/1724/qrg-resapp-submitting-progress-final-report-milestone.pdf
