About Us
The Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Concord Hospital includes Concord Microbiology, whichprovides diagnostic microbiology services for Concord and Canterbury Hospital, as part of NSW Health Pathology. In addition, the laboratory has a special interest in the diagnosis of fungal, parasitic, mycobacterial, and gastrointestinal infections as well as detection of antimicrobial resistance. Clinical and scientific staff are available to discuss diagnostic testing. The laboratory is also engaged in research in clinical microbiology. The laboratory is fully accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) to the international standard for laboratory accreditation AS/ISO 15189.
The clinical Infectious Diseases service provides inpatient and outpatient services to Concord Hospital.
