Traineeships

Traineeships are jobs that combine work and structured training.  Explore a career pathway with Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) while gaining a nationally recognised qualification. We offer career pathways for Aboriginal people through a full-time traineeship as SLHD delivers a broad range of health services across the District to our Aboriginal communities.

Am I eligible for a full-time SLHD Health Traineeship?

You are eligible to apply for a full-time traineeship with SLHD if you are:

  • Undertaking a vocational pathway
  • Undertaking employment, access, literacy and numeracy TAFE courses
  • Studying part-time in alternative educational settings

Our Trainees are employed on a full-time temporary basis and are paid a fortnightly salary under an appropriate award with the view for permanent employment on successful completion of the traineeship.

Assistant in Nursing, Business Administration, Cleaning and Graduate Management Traineeship

Sydney Dental & Oral Health Traineeships:
The new graduate rotation program primary aim was to recruit 6 final year dentistry students anticipating graduation at the end of the calendar year with a keen interest in the principles of public sector dentistry and demonstrated ability to deliver high quality dental services to the eligible population. The new graduate dentists recruited through this process are mentored and guided by senior clinicians and specialists throughout a structured 24 months of experience. This program advances their clinical knowledge, skills and experience in general dentistry and provides exposure to specialties like Oral Surgery, Special Care Dentistry and Paediatric Dentistry.
