Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

What is IUI?

IUI is a less invasive fertility treatment. It is a simple procedure which aids the sperm to reach the uterus. The cycle is tracked with blood tests and ultrasounds.  The IUI procedure is performed by one of our Doctors and is timed to coincide with ovulation. Before the insemination the sperm is washed and prepared by our embryologists.  The sperm may either be fresh (from the partner) or frozen (from the partner or a known sperm donor).

Who is it for?

  • Couples who have had frozen sperm stored (usually stored prior to chemotherapy);
  • Patients using frozen donor sperm;
  • Couples who have difficulty having intercourse.
