Our Research


As part of large tertiary hospital, the RPAH Fertility Unit collaborates with various entities in Sydney Local Health District and its research institutions and Genea to undertake research in reproductive endocrinology and fertility that will benefit our patients. This research has previously received international recognition and has included.

  • weight loss intervention prior to commencing IVF. (The unit is no longer recruiting for this study).
  • The effects of physiological intracytoplasmic injection as a method of fertilization
  • Miscarriage in the setting of IVF

Current research includes projects in:

  • Myomas in the context of infertility
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Use of adjuvants in IVF
  • Endometriosis in the context of infertility
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Fertility preservation in an oncology setting

Patients may be asked about their interest in participating in research being undertaken.
