Going Home
Discharge Time is 10am.
We appreciate you planning ahead - to assist us with your discharge it is important that early in your stay, or before your admission, you allocate a relative or friend to pick you up from hospital.
The staff on the Orthopaedic ward try to make the transition back home as smooth as possible.
On the day of your discharge you will be given:
- A letter for your local doctor about the operation/ treatment you have received
- Medications you are given approximately 5 days supply until you can see your own local doctor.
- You may require follow up in the outpatient clinic - if you do you will be given an appointment card, if you need to see the surgeon at his rooms then you will be told when to make your own appointment,
- If you require ongoing physiotherapy or any other appointments you will be told before you leave the hospital
- If you have a dressing (wound) then the nurse will explain what follow up is required and whether you have any stitches to be removed. The nurse will also let you know if you can shower with the dressing.
- If you brought in private X-rays please ask for them
At anytime please ask the health care professionals any questions you may have about activities when you go home, follow up and medications.
