Brainstorm is a collaboration between Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney. It is dedicated to supporting brain tumour research through the RPA Department of Neuropathology and the Molecular Neuropathology Research Program, based at the Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney.
RPA is a world-leading hospital with a proud tradition of excellence in patient care. Its neurosurgical service offers medical oncology, radiation oncology and neuropathology, allowing RPA to provide integrated quaternary level specialised care for brain cancer patients, which in turn improves patient outcomes.
The Neuropathology Department at RPA is the only independent, specialised unit of its kind in Australia, and features a brain tumour banking facility that preserves specimens for use in medical research. Neuropathology is the backbone of any brain cancer research. It ensures that all tumours are correctly typed and curated so that an accurate diagnosis is made and meaningful research studies are possible.
