SLHD Student Nurse Orientation

All nursing students attending a clinical placement in identified health facilities within SLHD*, that have chosen to take part in this process MUST complete the orientation modules accessed through the Education Support Portal (ESP) ‘Moodle’ prior to commencing a clinical placement.

Once the student has completed the orientation modules, they will be only required to view the introductory welcome video prior to attending any subsequent placement at any one of the other facilities taking part in this process. However, the student will be required to download and keep on their person the ‘Certificate of Completion’ to present to staff on day 1 of the clinical placement.  Google Chrome must be used when accessing the ESP Moodle.

Information to assist students is located here https://www.slhd.nsw.gov.au/ccpu/student_Nurse_Orientation.html

*Note facilities taking part in this process have not been identified here as the number of facilities may grow in the future and therefore the process of gaining access to the Moodle to complete orientation will be as follows.

How will I get access to the ‘Moodle’ to complete orientation modules in identified facilities taking part in this process?

Once the student has been identified that will attend a placement within a facility where on- line orientation is required to be completed, the students email address will be uploaded into the ESP Moodle, and the student will receive an auto-generated email inviting them to log into the ESP Moodle to complete these modules. The University supplies NSW Health with the students email address which is located in the students’ ClinConnect profile.

Students will be enrolled into the MOODLE to complete orientation modules, no greater than one (1) week, PRIOR to clinical placement commencing.

To log into the Moodle complete the following steps:

  • Go to the web address: https://esp.slhd.nsw.gov.au

  • Log into ESP Moodle using the logins you received in the auto-generated email containing a password to access the ESP Moodle.

  • You will be then prompted to change the password the first time you log in.

  • Click on ‘My Courses’ – we have noted where you will find this below.

    t

  • Complete all modules and then download the ‘Certificate of Completion’ to present to staff on day 1 of placement.

Google Chrome must be used when accessing the ESP Moodle.

Note: your username will be your email address and as mentioned above, the auto-generated email sent to you will give you all of the remaining information to log into the ESP Moodle.

The content of the email will advise the following:

Hi Example,

A new account has been created for you at 'Education Support Portal'
and you have been issued with a new temporary password.

Your current login information is now:
username: example@gmail.com
password: mmTaG_t35j

(you will have to change your password
when you login for the first time)

To start using 'Education Support Portal', login at
https://esp.slhd.nsw.gov.au/login/?lang=en

In most mail programs, this should appear as a blue link
which you can just click on. If that doesn't work,
then cut and paste the address into the address
line at the top of your web browser window.

Cheers from the 'Education Support Portal' administrator,

The Administrator
