Thyroid cancer multidisciplinary service

  • Thyroid cancer incidence is increasing and it is now the second most common cancer in females aged 15 - 29 years in NSW.

  • The Endocrinology and Metabolism Centre was established in March 2009. Today it is staffed by a multidisciplinary thyroid cancer team involving endocrinologists, endocrine nurses, thyroid surgeons, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists and pathologists was established in.

  • Patient care is provided through an integrated Model of Care. This includes clinical activities and translational/clinical research into managing thyroid cancers from the initial thyroid nodule work up to diagnosis, surgery, post-surgical management and long-term follow-up.
