About Us

The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Concord Hospital provides clinical services in all areas of endocrinology, with a team of dedicated nurses, doctors and administrative staff looking after a wide range of patients from all walks of life. Founded in 1977, the department has grown into one of Sydney's leading institutions in the field of endocrinology and metabolic disease, with a proud record of training some of the finest endocrinologists in the country. Our Diabetes Education Centre, also active since 1977, continues tom provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary service for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, including insulin pump therapy.

In addition, the department's members are active in both basic and clinical research, with productive teams working both at the hospital and the ANZAC Research Institute. Our research efforts have been particularly successful in the area of bone biology, osteoporosis/fracture prevention, diabetes and obesity and metabolic aspects of mental disease.
