Our Services
Concord Intensive Care Unit provides services consistent with a level 6 ICU including:
- Multidisciplinary approach to healthcare including a team dedicated to the care of patients with a tracheostomy tube in-situ both in ICU and on the wards, a ward liaison service which supports the acute healthcare needs of deteriorating patients and supports staff managing patients on the wards
- Advanced invasive and non-invasive diagnostic techniques, monitoring, and treatment modalities designed to support vital organs including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological and neurosurgical support
- Specialised burns care and management
- A comprehensive teaching program involving the education of medical and nursing staff. The teaching program includes regular meetings discussing ICU topics, journal club, a weekly multidisciplinary ICU grand rounds discussion, and bedside echocardiography and point of care ultrasound for ICU/HDU patients
- Critical care rotation program for nurses
- Nursing education program offering workshops to help develop and consolidate critical care knowledge and experience
- Simulation education sessions for doctors and nurses training in intensive care medicine
- Swallow and speech assessment and nutritional support
Other support services including pharmacy, social work and pastoral care.
