ClinConnectClinConnect is the program used by NSW Health and Education Providers to manage and coordinate student clinical placements enrolled in 54 health disciplines and to record the placement and student details for students enrolled in Medicine. Students enrolled in any of the disciplines noted in this document must be managed through ClinConnect. You will note that only three disciplines are defined as 'Category B' for the purposes of verification; all other students attending a clinical placement withing a NSW Health facility, are classified as Category A. ClinConnect records information required by NSW health to ensure students meet all requirements of respective policy directives. Some of these details include: current criminal record check information, a signed acknowledgement of the NSW Health Code of Conduct and immunisation status. Education providers are partnered with dedicated Local Health Districts and Speciality Health Networks to perform the verification checks of their students who are required to undertake a clinical placement as part of their course. Sydney Local Health District is partnered with the University of Sydney and the University of Tasmania (Rozelle campus). We are also able to provide verification services to students who are allocated to placements in Hospitals across Sydney Local Health District that are enrolled in a course delivered by a non partner education provider. ClinConnect supports education providers and health services to manage the high demand for clinical training and provides reporting data to state and national stakeholders. Creating 'Placements by Exception' (PBE) SLHD staff with ClinConnect access and Education Providers can create a PBE up until 28-days prior to the placements proposed start date. The Manager of the SLHD Clinical Placement Unit can create a PBE up until 7-days prior to the placements proposed start date. If the PBE is proposed to commence less than 7-days prior to the proposed start date, only HETI can create the PBE. The HETI will not create late PBEs without the authority of the LHD Coordinator. However please note, an approved PBE requires the education provider to assign the students name within 24-hours to prevent placement cancellation.
