Surgical Robotics
The Surgical & Robotic Training Institute (SRTI) was opened in 2017 as the first and only training organisation in the Southern Hemisphere for robotic surgery. SRTI brings together clinical care, research, training and state of the art medical technology in a purpose built training facility and is in collaboration with the following organisations:
- Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA)
- Sydney Local Health District
- Institute of Academic Surgery
- Intuitive
- Device Technologies
- da Vinci Surgery
- University of Sydney
In partnership with the experts at Intuitive and Device Technologies, SRTI hosts structured training programs for surgeons who want to become accredited with the da Vinci system. The trainer guides the surgeons through all the critical skills necessary to operate the da Vinci robot.
The team at SRTI can train surgeons with varying skill levels, from introductory and basic skills courses to advanced courses. Highly respected local and international surgeons host Advanced Surgeon Lead Courses which offer surgeons already competent in robotic surgery the opportunity to master their robotic skills in chosen specialities such as Urology, Gynaecology, Colorectal and Hernia repair.
da Vinci Robotic Surgical System
The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System allows surgeons to operate on a patient with minimally invasive incisions. The da Vinci robot features a magnified, high-definition vision system alongside robotic arms that have surgical instruments attached at the ends that bend and rotate with great precision. The surgeon is always in control of the da Vinci System through the operating console and it ultimately enables surgeons to operate with enhanced vision, precision, and control.
The da Vinci System represents the latest in surgical and robotics technologies.
