Clinical Focus

 

Concord Immunology Department leads the way to support patient with Immune disorders.

Our clinical expertise includes:

SLE, Sjögren's syndrome and other connective tissue disorders
Vasculitis and other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases
Allergy / anaphylaxis
HIV medicine and other acquired immunodeficiencies
Immunosuppression
Inborn errors of immunity (genetic diseases)
Neuroimmunology
Interstitial lung diseases

 

The Department has a keen interest in providing educational services to medical and nursing staff, as well as community medical practitioners and allied health professionals. Teaching activities include:

  • Concord Hospital Grand Rounds
  • Concord Hospital Physicians Workshop
  • Weekly departmental journal club
  • Inter-departmental in-services
  • Annual Basic Physician Trainee (BPT) Division Written Examination lecture series
  • BPT Long Case and Short Case preparation
  • Central Sydney Immunology Network lecture series

Advanced Training In Immunology at Concord Hospital

The Immunology advanced trainee registrar position at Concord Hospital is recognised by the Joint Specialist Advisory Committee in Immunology and Allergy of the Colleges of Physicians and Pathologists, and forms part of a rotation with the training programs of Royal Prince Alfred, Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals.

The registrar is located in the Department of Immunology (Level 6 West, main building) at Concord Hospital and is under the direct supervision of A/Prof Sean Riminton, and A/Prof Sandhya Limaye. The position is a full-time advanced training registrar position in the Sydney Local Health District.

The registrar receives practical experience in a variety of domains of clinical immunology including allergy, autoimmunity, HIV, immunodeficiency and subspecialty areas of neuroimmunology and Interstitial lung disease associated with connective tissue disease. There are opportunities for research medical education of students and oversight of junior doctors.
