Information For Patients


If you've been referred to the Concord Immunology Department for an opinion or for treatment of an immune-mediated disorder, we want to assure you that you will receive the best possible care from us.

Immunology is a medical specialty which focus on the diagnosis and treatment for immune system diseases.


How to make an appointment

  • Initial enquiries about making an appointment can be discussed by email or by calling 02 9767 6735
  • Before an appointment can be arranged, you will need a medical referral letter addressed to one of the following doctor: A/Prof Sean Riminton, A/Prof Sandhya Limaye, Dr Jessie Lee, Dr Alexander Headley, Dr Peter Bradhurst.
  • Send your referral letter by email or by fax to 02 9767 8315 so appointments can be triaged, i.e. allocated based on medical need.
  • Patients residing in the Sydney Local Health District Area will have priority according to Hospital Policy. Patient must be at least 16 year old.

When your appointment is confirmed

You will be given instructions by mail or SMS about attendance. If you need help on the day, there is an information desk in the main entrance of Concord Hospital.

There are no out-of-pocket charges for clinical consultations.

The Immunology clinics include patients who are immunocompromised. Please do not attend if you have COVID or other flu-like illnesses. You can contact us to rebook your appointment.

On the day you will need to bring:

  • Your referral letter
  • Medicare Card or Veteran Entitlement Card
  • You will be asked to consider providing consent to use your Medicare card. This consent is essential to support our services. There are no additional out of pocket charges for clinical consultations.
  • An up-to-date list of your current medications including doses
  • X-Rays, scans and test results (if applicable) to the appointment

Antihistamines

If you are attending for allergy testing, please avoid antihistamine tablets (e.g. Telfast, Claratyne, Phenergan) for at least four days prior to your appointment if it is safe to do so. Some over-the-counter cold and flu preparations contain antihistamines and also need to be avoided.

You must NOT stop your cortisone medications (e.g. prednisone or prednisolone tablets), asthma puffers, nasal sprays or skin creams. Talk to your doctor if you are not sure.
